DOJ Extends ADA Digital Accessibility Compliance Deadlines

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) has issued an interim final rule extending the compliance deadline for the ADA Title II digital accessibility requirements for state and local governments. For all State of Georgia agencies, this means the new deadline will be April 26, 2027. The compliance date for public entities with a total population of less than 50,000, or any special district government, is extended from April 26, 2027, to April 26, 2028. There will be a 60-day period, starting April 20th,2026 where comments may be submitted.

The requirements remain the same that web and mobile applications must meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA standard.
