  • On June 30th, 2015 the Georgia Emergency Preparedness Coalition for Individuals with Disabilities and Older Adults presented a webinar (that included real-time captioning and a sign language interpreter) on the accessibility of Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEAs) to people with disabilities. WEAs are a component of the Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) under the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), an agency of the Department of Homeland Security. During an emergency, alert and warning officials need to provide the public with life-saving information quickly. IPAWS provides public safety officials with an effective way to alert and warn the public about serious emergencies. To access an archived version of this webinar, please click on this link:

The Get Ready Tool Kit and Train-the-Trainer Workshop materials were developed to provide participants with the tools, guidance, and techniques necessary to assist the individuals they serve with emergency preparedness and planning.
